Amitabha Buddha is one of the most popular and well-known Buddha. It is a member of well know Pancha Buddha or Five Dhayani Buddhas. It is also known as Amitayus. Philosophically Amitabha means boundless light and boundless happiness. It is common belief that he resides in the “sukhabatti bhavan” Land of Ultimate Bliss (also called as Pure Land) in peaceful meditation. In this Pure Land  all beings enjoy boundless happiness and peace. The spiritual power of Amitabha Buddha, helps all be ings in this world with better understanding of teaching of Buddha if practiced regularly and diligently. And this will ultimately help in attaining the Nirvana ultimate enlightenment. Nirvana, is the state of mind that you achieve when you no longer suffer with the help of wisdom you have achieved with practice of meditation and teachings of Buddha. So by reciting Amitabha Buddha's name and meditating, some Buddhist followers hope that they will be born in this Pure Land after their lives on earth. They also mimic the position of Amitabha Buddha while worshiping by holding a patra on the palm of the hand and sitting in the same posture.
