Who are we? Tell us a bit more about Shakya Handicraft

We are a group of Newari artisans working hard to bring you Buddhist and meditation products directly from our workshop. Newari artisans are the aborigines of Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. History shows Newars have been making Buddha statues and Buddhist ritual gifts for centuries since sixth century AD. So we are still contributing to this Art and Culture and keeping our Newari tradition alive. We have acquired our skills and traditional method of crafting from our forefathers. The tradition has been descended from generation to generation and preserved till today. Hope this trend continues and your support means a lot to us. Where are you located? Where do you ship products from?

We are located in Lalitpur, Nepal near Patan Durbar Square, A historical world heritage site. We have multiple venues of factories. And we ship from Patan, Lalitpur, Nepal.

How do you ship your products? Are they expedited shipping?

Our packages are shipped by expedited shipping methods. We use couriers like DHL, Fedex etc. to ship your products to your doorsteps. These are all quick and safe deliveries. Check here for more details.

Do I have to pay custom charges in my country?

Yes, custom charges are subject to your country’s rules and regulations. However, we can send the package as a gift to you so that you may benefit from the tax exemptions on gifts. It is a subject to your country’s rules and regulations. Please consult with your local government authorities regarding this. We do not charge sales tax upfront.

How long does it take the package to reach to my address?

Typically, It takes about 5-7 days to reach to the customers address worldwide. It is sometimes a subject to availability of products in stock. If the product is out of stock and you happen to back order one, it is a subject to manufacturing process. It depends on a type of product you order. For example: Suppose you ordered a Buddha statue and wanted it to be gold plated. But the statue is in semi finished state and you need it to be fully or partially gold plated. In this scenario the whole process can be completed within a week. After that again it is a subject to 5 – 7 days of shipping time.

If however statue is not in semi finished state and needs to be built from a scratch it is a subject to 1-2 months of time. But generally we do not have to go that far because we usually have semi finished statues in stock. Do you take customized orders?

Yes, we do. Provide us with your detailed requirements. And we will communicate and discuss on your specimens thoroughly. You can customize and personalize products to your heart’s content. Are your products all handmade?

All of our products are 100% handmade. Taking from Buddha statues, Thangka Paintings, Tibetan Jewelry to Tibetan rugs and Meditation gifts, they are all authentic handicrafts made by Newar artisans in Patan, Nepal.Handcarving Buddha Statue

Can my statue or other products be consecrated or blessed by a local monk?

Yes, absolutely. We are affiliated to Local Buddhist monastery called Jyatha Buddhist Monastery. They provide service to bless your statue or thangka or any other items and consecrate them with relevant mantras. However, they do this for a small fee of $40.
